As part of its annual collector car sale at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida, scheduled for January 15-24, Mecum Auctions will also offer some 1,500 pieces of “Road Art” in one of the largest automobilia sales of the year.
Well-known collectors will be presenting their collections of signs, neons, pumps and oilers for sale, much of it for the first time in decades. Most of these are original and in near-mint to mint condition, and include the massive signs that once hung outside dealerships promoting in vivid neon various brands like Packard, Lincoln, Ford, Chevrolet, Willys and more. Also presented for sale will be a multitude of porcelain signs promoting products ranging from the oil and manufacturing industries to food.
Among the collectibles on offer will be the 400-plus piece Kim and Mary Kokles Collection that was built up over a period of about 40 years, and includes rare signs, globes, cans and much more, all in mint or near-mint condition.
Another offering beyond those examples is a right-hand and left-hand, single-sided neon porcelain Mobil Pegasus set (above) in fantastic condition. Measuring 9-feet by 6-feet each, the neon on both glows with exceptional brilliancy and the animation operates flawlessly.
This is just an inkling of what will be available in Kissimmee, both rolling stock and not, so for further information please visit www.mecum.com
