Tom Havlasek wanted to paint a “psychedelic” 917 because he’d already done the Gulf, Martini and Salzburg liveries, some more than once. His goal is to have a collection of all the 917 liveries painted, and so one day he awoke feeling like painting a “Hippie”. Thoughts of that car brought many stories, some almost mythical, to his mind. Like, how was it painted? Some say it was done just a night before the race at Le Mans and tons of spray cans were used to make it.
