A new European race series for prewar sports cars has been launched by Duncan Wiltshire, organizer of the Le Mans Legend event. The series—titled Motor Racing Legend—is open to a huge range of sports cars from the ’20s and ’30s.
“We’re aiming to recreate the heady days of Birkin against Caracciola, Blower Bentleys against the might of Mercedes-Benz, Alfa Romeo and Talbot, and the great endurance racing of Le Mans and the Mille Miglia,” says Wiltshire. “From the spectator’s point of view, sports cars of the prewar era—combining tremendous power with negligible grip—are real favorites. Our aim is to create a series of the caliber of the much-lamented Coys Festival, with the emphasis on minimum bureaucracy and maximum fun.”
The series will comprise up to six rounds—each consisting of two, 2-driver, 45-minute races on consecutive days—at circuits including Donington Park, Spa, the Nürburgring and other top European venues.
