Despite dreary weather for much of the weekend, Virginia International’s Gold Cup Historic Races was judged an unqualified success by its organizers attracting a record entry of 229 cars, an increase of nearly 69 percent over the previous year’s event. Much of the increase was attributable to the large 77-car field of MGs comprising the MG Vintage Racers’ 2003 Focus Event. Also featured was a large selection of American Road Racing Specials, including examples of Bocar, Echidna, Lister, Devin, Sadler, Beach, NTM, Aardvark, PBS and Brand X.
