If you are even just slightly interested in Australian motor racing there are two Sundays of the year that are always marked in your diary. Days when you tell the kids you’re busy and they should leave you alone under pain of death or at least a large reduction in their weekly allowance. Days when you politely inform others in your household that nothing, absolutely nothing will entice you into mowing the lawn or even leaving the house.
One of these sacrosanct Sundays is of course when the Australian Gran Prix is held around Albert Park not far from the Central Business District of Melbourne, the capital city of the state of Victoria. An event that attracts attention right throughout the world. The other event, while not known all that well outside this country, rivals the Grand Prix for its popularity with Australian enthusiasts and takes place over the first weekend of October.
