The MG Vintage Racers organization (MGVR) has announced the creation of three “All MG” races for the 2003 racing season. The first scheduled event is the Moss Motors-sponsored all MG race at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) June 6-8. This race will also serve as the MGVR designated “Focus Event” for 2003, where 38 MG’s are already pre-registered to take part, and a record breaking 50 to 60 MG’s are expected to compete. Also at this event, MGVR will award their prestigious annual “Spirit Award” to one of their racers who best exemplies the spirit of the marque.
Next, from June 26-29, the Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada (VARAC) will host their annual “Vintage Festival” at Mosport, including the “All MG” race for the “Simms Cup.” Last year, 24 MG’s raced for this honor, and even more MG’s are expected this year. Later, as summer fades, the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA), will hold their United States Zippo Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, New York, September 4-8, which includes their annual historic “Collier Cup” race for MG’s and the “T Cup” trophy for T-series MG’s. This large event always draws a big field and a large spectator crowd. For more information go to the MG Vintage Racers’ Web site at www.MGVR.org
