Steve Earle, founder of the Monterey Historic Automobile Races and the Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA), has been chosen to receive the 2003 Meguiar’s Award, which honors the “Collector Car Hobby’s Person of the Year.” The selection was made by the Meguiars Award Selection Committee, which includes 21 leading automotive journalists from across the United States.
“One of the founding fathers of the American vintage racing movement, Steve Earle has given tirelessly to the sport, remaining in the back-ground as he brought to life such renowned events as the Monterey Historics and the annual Wine Country Classic,” says Barry Meguiar, president and CEO of Meguiar’s Inc.
Earle will be honored at Los Angeles’ Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on May 30 with a live concert by the Beach Boys.
