Arguably, of all the Italian car manufacturers, few possess the depth of road and racing history as that of Alfa Romeo. Founded in 1910, the history of Alfa Romeo is, in many ways, the history of the Italian automotive industry. Due to this tremendous depth of history, many years ago, Alfa Romeo began collecting photos, documents and cars that embodied its rich history. This large collection of materials now makeup what is known as the Museo Alfa Romeo in Arese, Italy.
This month’s Web site is the official site devoted to this very impressive museum and is designed to provide the viewer with a virtual tour of the collection. The Web site is broken down into five sections that correspond to the five floors of the museum, each devoted to a different era in Alfa’s history. Within each segment, the viewer can take a virtual tour through that floor including photos and descriptions of the cars on display, as well as period advertising posters and mpeg movies of the cars in action.
