When Lancia retired from racing in 1955, the team of Jano-designed D50s were handed over to Ferrari and formed the basis of the Scuderia’s F1 effort for the 1956 season. Drivers included team leader Juan Manuel Fangio, Luigi Musso and Peter Collins. Collins is depicted driving in the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa, a race he won.
Peering determinedly around the screen, the driver negotiates Eau Rouge. It was Collins’ selfless handing over of his car to his team leader during the final race of the season at Monza that alllowed Fangio to win his fourth World Championship.
