While not well known in the United States, this April’s Techno Classica Essen proved to be one of the largest, most diverse, classic car events to be found anywhere in the world.
Techno Classica Essen covers an incredible 12 large halls – some with second floors that are also chock full of cars, parts and memorabilia. While the event runs for a full three days, many visitors to this year’s event bemoaned the fact that it was difficult to see everything in that period of time. Part of the reason for this is that Essen offers so much, including: elaborate European auto manufacturers’ displays of their racing history; display stands featuring historic street and racecars for sale; vast club displays for dozens of popular and obscure makes of cars; as well as an armada of vendor displays offering restoration services, parts and automobilia.
The date for next year’s event will be April 10-13, 2003. For more information, go to www.carwebeurope.com/Techno/cindex.htm
