Masters Historic Racing has announced its 2021 Masters USA Calendar with a roll-call of the classic North American road circuits. Next year’s Masters U.S. Tour takes in six stunning North American circuits in a nine-round schedule that goes full circle, starting and ending at Sebring. To add to the excitement, an all new Masters Formula Atlantic Plus series joins the Masters USA ranks at two events in 2021.
The Masters 2021 US Calendar connects all the classic North American road racing venues, offering 6 events for Masters Historic Formula One USA (MHFO USA), open to F1 cars from 1966 to 1985, and 8 events for the ever-growing Masters Endurance Legends USA (MEL USA) series that caters for Le Mans/Daytona prototypes and GTs from 1982 to 2016.
The newly announced series – Masters Formula Atlantic Plus – has been created in response to numerous requests from drivers and is open to Under 2-liter monoposto cars in the shape of Formula Atlantic, Formula 2 and Formula Super Vee cars. The grid will be split into 2 classes, initially for Pre-’79 and Pre-’86 cars, with the intention of running two trial events in 2021 to gauge support before embarking on a fuller schedule in 2022, if the initiative proves popular.
The 2021 US Season will start with an exciting invitation from Sebring International Raceway for MEL USA to join the support race bill for the high-profile Sebring SportsCar Week at Sebring on March 12/14 . Following on from that, Masters takes a new initiative in the U.S. by running its own Festival at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in early May. A chance for all three US series to shake off the cobwebs Californian-style, for a relaxed 2-day weekend of historic racing.
July welcomes a double-header of meetings at two great U.S. road circuits; Watkins Glen and Road America. It will be Masters’ first visit to the traditional Grand Prix track of Watkins Glen where the MHFO USA cars, MEL USA and Masters Formula Atlantic Plus will all get the chance to take center stage at the Fingers Lake Wine Festival. The following weekend, all three grids will then get the chance to travel the U.S. highways to Road America for a traditional favorite, the International WeatherTech Challenge with Brian Redman, where MHFO USA and MEL USA will have dedicated grids and Masters Formula Atlantic Plus will have the opportunity to join in existing run groups.
August will see the MHFO USA and MEL USA grids both appear in a WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca double-header, combining the Monterey Pre-Reunion with the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, before heading to the glitzy Sonoma Speed Festival in late September in the final round of the 2021 season for Masters Historic Formula One USA cars.
The Masters Endurance Legends USA grid will round off the 2021 Masters USA calendar by being part of the two, classic, end-of-season meetings in Florida, first joining the late-October HSR Classic Daytona 24 Hour event, before drawing the curtains on the season at Sebring for the HSR Classic Sebring 12 Hours.
