On September 21, a special going away party was held for the Eagle TG104 that carried Dan Gurney to a historic all-American victory at the 1965 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa, as well as victory in the 1967 Race of Champions at Brands Hatch.
Built by Gurney’s All-American Racers in Santa Ana, California, for the 1967 Formula One season, the TG104 sported an amazing amount of exotic materials for the day including an all-titanium front suspension and exhaust system.
According to Gurney, the car’s owner, Miles Collier entrusted AAR with the car’s “regularly scheduled 34-year maintenance!” After an extensive restoration, several dozen friends gathered to listen one last time to its 12-cylinder engine wail and to toast it bon voyage… again.
