The surge in interest in historic Grand Prix cars created by last year’s series of races at places like the USGP and the Monterey Historics has spawned the formation of an independent organization devoted to the competition of these historic single-seaters. The new body, known as Historic Grand Prix (HGP), is a collection of over 50 owners and drivers of 3-liter Grand Prix cars built between 1960 and 1983. The new group has formed a schedule to run in conjunction with a number of different race organizations around the country. For 2000, HGP has already run one race at the Wine Country Classic and will run races at the Monterey Historics and potentially the Portland Historics.
