Last month we brought you the bizarre legal battle revolving around the long-lost Cobra Daytona Coupe prototype CSX2287. At the heart of the battle were several parties claiming to now own the car after its most recent owner, Dorothy Brand, committed suicide in October.
Shortly after going to press last month with the story, one of the car’s previous owners, famed record producer Phil Spector, filed his own lawsuit claiming that he in fact had never sold the car and had merely entrusted it to O’Hara’s father, George Brand, who was one of Spector’s bodyguards. In court documents, Spector claims that he intended to keep the car as a long-term investment and had asked his bodyguard to arrange storage.
With the recent addition of Spector to the list of litigants, CSX2287 now has a total of 4 separate parties claiming to be the rightful owner of one of the most significant pieces of Cobra race history valued at upwards of $4 million.
