A wonderfuly “human” being, Shaw pursued auto, powerboat and airplane racing for 35 years. He won Indy three times; convinced Tony Hulman to rebuild The Speedway after WWII; was president of The Speedway at the time of his death in 1954; was idolized by the kids he found time to help through life; and loved animals, women and everything that would go faster than the next. He once had a pet lion cub (named Hannibal), but I wish I knew the racoon’s name…
