Hello, Posterity. This is the past calling. Writers and readers being separated by the editor’s deadlines, it’s still 1999 for me, but you’re already way off there in January 2000. So I thought it would be fun to toss a little time capsule over the Great Millennial Divide.
Do you remember the 20th Century? Ah, weren’t those the good old days? Things seemed simpler and clearer then, didn’t they. And comfortably delineated, somehow. Back in ’99, our only worry was “Y2K” and whether the automatic coffeemaker would work on New Year’s morning. Now… Wow. I’ll bet the future stretches out for a thousand years. Scary.
