The Bentley Speed Six “Blue Train” Coupe collected four top honors at last weekend’s Schloss Bensberg Classics event near Cologne, Germany. The Bentley, now owned by Bruce McCaw, was selected Best of Show by the Jury Vote, Best of Show by the Public Vote, Best in Class: The Style of Speed and Best in Special Category: Pre-War Closed Models.
Eighty-five years have passed since the car won a bet for Bentley chairman Woolf Barnato by not only beating the Calais-Mediterranée Express (or “Blue Train”) from Cannes to Calais, but then reaching his club in London before the train made it to the English Channel.
“The four awards won by the Bentley ‘Blue Train’ at this prestigious event,” commented Robert Engstler, Regional Director Bentley Europe, “prove once again that this car is one of the most legendary vehicles of all times.”
