To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of BMW, the German marque will be featured at next year’s Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, set for August 18-21, 2016 at California’s Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
A century ago, Karl Rapp and Gustav Otto first joined forces to combine their talents under the name Bavarian Motor Works, producing aircraft engines, then adding motorcycles in 1923 and automobiles five years later.
“The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is a perfect stage on which to celebrate 100 years of BMW,” stated Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America, LLC. “The BMW brand and the legend of The Ultimate Driving Machine® was forged on and continues to be refined on racing circuits all over the world. BMW is delighted to be able to share our passion for great automobiles and motorsport with the world next year.”
With requests for entries opening in October and closing in February, organizers are expecting more than 900 applications for the 550 available spots. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca also announced that it will be doubling up with BMW by hosting the BMW Car Club of America’s annual Oktoberfest together with the BMW Rider’s Association Annual Rally on August 24-28.
