Bringing together the world’s rarest sport and racing automobiles, The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, returned to its intimate setting on Friday, August 15, 2008 at the Quail Lodge in Carmel, California.
The 2008 Quail honored one of the greatest endurance races in America, the Twelve Hours of Sebring, the 25th anniversary of the Porsche 959, the first high-performance car to use an all-wheel-drive system, and Eagle Race Cars, praised for their outstanding performance and remarkable design by racing legend Dan Gurney.
Motoring highlights included, amongst many others, the 1967 Gurney Eagle F-1, which Dan Gurney not only built but also brought to victory at the Spa-Francorchamps Grand Prix, and the 1985 Porsche 959 Rothmans Paris-Dakar ex-René Metge and Dominique Lemoyne – one of the first three Porsche 959s to race in the Paris-Dakar Rally.
