It’s hard to believe it is already January 2013! With the coming of the New Year comes renewed attention and anticipation of arguably the single most important week in the collector car marketplace—the Scottsdale auctions.
While last year’s Monterey/Pebble Beach sales eclipsed Scottsdale for total value of vehicles sold (a staggering $226 million vs. Scottsdale’s 2012 total of $179 million), Scottsdale still leads the way with the total number of vehicles sold and still serves as an all-important indicator of the state of the market. Unlike Monterey, the Scottsdale auction week is purely about the buying and selling of collector cars and has evolved, over its 42-year history, to become not just a national, but a global meeting place for the hobby.
