Ecurie Ecosse is a private racing organization based in Scotland that’s probably best known for having twice won Le Mans overall with Jaguar D-Types, while also giving early support to a pair of local youngsters named Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart. Founded in 1951 by accountant David Murray and ace race wrench Walter “Wilkie” Wilkinson, the team was an offshoot of Merchiston Motors in Edinburgh, where Wilkinson’s presence drew in the customers. Wilkinson directed the preparation of the Jags that won Le Mans in ’56 and ’57, and later went on to help Graham Hill win the F1 World Championship with BRM.
