• At H&H auctions, April 9 Duxford Sale, the UK auction house managed a near record price for a 1970 Aston Martin DB6 MK2 Vantage at $333,000, while a 1935 Singer Nine Le Mans “Savoye Special” fetched $203,000.
• The California Mille has announced that through the sale of its branded regalia, the venerable West Coast road rally has been able to donate $3,800 to the National Motorists Association, which champions the rights of motorists. According to event founder Martin Swig, “In the California Mille’s 22-year-history of back road excursions, we’ve seen our share of speed traps, gotcha red lights and unreasonable traffic penalties. This is our way of combatting these nuisances while making driving safer and more enjoyable. We’re sure National Motorists Association Director Gary Biller will make good use of these funds at the organization’s Wausau, Wisconsin, headquarters.”
