The last example of a McLaren F1 GTR ever produced, chassis 028R, will cross the auctioneer’s block at Bonham’s annual Auction of Exceptional Motorcars, scheduled for August 16–17 at the Quail Lodge in Carmel, California. Resplendent in its legendary pale blue and orange Gulf Oil livery, the ex-Team Davidoff 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail contested eight rounds of that year’s FIA Global GT Championship, and represents the ultimate development of Gordon Murray’s original GT design for McLaren.
“We are delighted to have been appointed by an international collector to represent this breathtaking piece of competition machinery,” says Mark Osborne, Head of Motoring at Bonhams. “Racing legends like the McLaren F1 GTR rarely if ever appear at auction.”
