On behalf of Australia’s Victorian Historic Racing Register (VHRR), well-known vintage racer Peter Giddings is seeking four cars and drivers to participate in an event featuring cars that would have, or could have, taken part in the 1956 Australian Grand Prix and the 1956 Australian Tourist Trophy races.
This event will take place at Phillip Island, Melbourne, this March 18–20, and would include such cars as Maserati models 300S, 195/200/250SI, 250F, and A6GCM, the Aston Martin DB3S, the Jaguar C-Type, the Talbot Lago 26C, the Cooper Bristol and Ferraris labeled 500TRC, Mondiale, Testa Rossa, Monza 750/850, 555 F1, or 625 F1.
Although details have yet to be confirmed for a possible second outing, these cars could also participate in demonstration laps during the following weekend’s Formula One Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne’s Albert Park.
The four driver/car combinations selected will receive round trip auto ocean freight (including Australian customs clearance, dock fees, carnet, and delivery to and from the track), weekend motel accommodations, and race entry, all free of charge. Interested parties should contact Peter Giddings as soon as possible at clearcomintl@aol.com.
