Artcurial held its 2009 Classic and Racing Cars auction on Sunday, February 8th at the Palais des Congrès in Paris. Artcurial sold 20 of 53 cars for a $3,851,539 total.
Artcurial featured more than 50 classic cars, headlined by a 1969 Matra MS650, 1972 Alfa Romeo Type 33/3, 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Speciale Alfa Romeo 6C 2500, 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Super Sport and 1967 Lola T70 Mk III.
Top sale went to the 1969 Matra MS650 at $2,025,192, followed by a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 at $275,940 and 1948 Delahaye 135 M Cabriolet Pennock that sold for $222,702, while the remainder of the featured cars did not meet the minimum reserve.
Artcurial offered 53 automobiles for sale, with 20 finding a new owner, reflecting a 38% sales rate. Total sales volume was $3,889,541, inclusive of buyer’s premiums. The average price per car sold was $194,477.
