2010 Scottsdale Auction Preview – Gooding & Company
Gooding & Company will hold its 2010 Scottsdale Auction event on January 22-23 at the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall in Scottsdale, Arizona. The 3rd annual Scottsdale auction will comprise two days for the first time, with an additional auction on Friday, January 22nd in addition to the previously scheduled Saturday, January 23rd sale.
Gooding has assembled approximately 125 cars for its 2010 Scottsdale Auction, headlined by the 1956 Jaguar D-Type Sports Racer, 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Series 1 Cabriolet, 1927 Bentley 6 1/2-Litre Sport Coupe, 1962 Shelby 260 Factory Competition Cobra, 1932 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Series V Gran Sport, 1959 Jaguar Costin Lister Sports Racer and 1934 Duesenberg Model J Disappearing Top Convertible Coupe. Estimates for these featured cars are all “available upon request.”
“This January marks Gooding & Company’s third year in Scottsdale which has been a successful venue for us since the beginning,” says owner and President David Gooding. “Following a strong 2009 Arizona sale, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to extend our Scottsdale auction to two days. With sensational cars such as a 1956 Jaguar D-Type, a 1959 Ferrari Series 1 Pinin Farina Cabriolet and a one-off Murphy- bodied 1934 Duesenberg, we expect to have an exciting two days in Arizona.”
Previous Scottsdale Auction Results – Gooding & Company
Gooding does not have a Ferrari 250 GT California Spider on offer this year, which is only interesting because Cal Spiders were the top sale in previous years. Last year saw the 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider bring $4,950,000, while a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider made $3,300,000 in 2008. All is not lost however, as Gooding has an impeccable 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Series 1 Cabriolet that should garner a very strong number.
Gooding’s 2009 Scottsdale auction was very successful with a 83% sales rate and more than $32 million in total sales, although they should eclipse that number in 2010 with their strong list of consignments, additional 70 cars on offer, plus the perceived strength in the underlying economy.

Jeez, where do I begin? Never mind the D-Type and 250 GT Series 1, I’ll take the Lister Jaguar and anything with Shelby. My, my…exceptional line-up of cars.
Great line up!
