2010 Gooding & Company Amelia Island Auction Preview
Gooding & Company will hold its inaugural Amelia Island Auction event on Friday, March 12th on the grounds of the Amelia Island Plantation in Florida. Gooding becomes the second auction to be held during the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance weekend, joining RM Auctions’ Automobiles of Amelia Island sale.
“The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance has become one of the preeminent automotive events of the world, attracting some of the best cars and collectors,” says David Gooding, president and founder of Gooding & Company. “In terms of East Coast auctions, we identified a gap at the top of the market. We are very pleased to announce that Gooding & Company will soon be in Amelia Island with an auction at the Plantation that will reflect our high standards.”
Gooding & Company assembled more than 70 cars for its first-ever Amelia Island Auction, headlined by the 1931 Voisin C20 Mylord Demi-Berline, 1928 Bugatti Type 35C Grand Prix, 1961 Porsche RS61, 1939 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Berlinetta Aerodinamica, 1938 Peugeot 402 Darl’Mat Roadster and 1932 Bugatti Type 50 Drop Head Coupe.
Other featured entries include six Pininfarina-styled cars, among them are four Ferraris – a 1965 500 Superfast Coupe, a 1968 330 GTS, a 1973 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta, and a 1985 288 GTO, as well as a unique 1956 Nash Rambler “Palm Beach” Coupe Special and a 1953 Nash-Healey Roadster.
David Gooding added, “Pininfarina has created some of the most beautiful automotive forms in history and the examples we’re presenting in Amelia Island are among the benchmarks of these designs.”

Very nice line-up from Gooding. Real interested to see where the RS61 and Type 35B trade. Thanks.
I will be looking forward to seeing some of these cars. Now I have to convince the wife that we would look good driving a 1963 AC Ace Bristol around Gainesville, FL. I wonder how much I have stashed in my piggy bank?
Lot 9 1928 Bugatti Type 35C……..
Is there a better looking car than one of thease
My impression of the 1956 Nash Rambler ‘Palm Beach’ Coupe Special- Pinnin Farina one-ups Raymond Lowey. Do you see it? Also, Ive seen Williamson’s Type 35C with the body removed. It’s beauty IS more than skin deep!
I remember the Rambler Palm Beach. I also remember why I paid it so little attention when new. That sled has a flathead nash six. AMC was already making a fine V8 plus some OHV sixes. including an alloy die cast one, and yet they assembled this crate with their spavined flatty?
