Tour Australis Featured at Inaugural Motorclassica

Twelve Apostles on Tour Australis RouteVictoria’s finest driving roads and most enticing scenic, cultural and epicurean attractions will star in Tour Australis, the on-road highlight of Motorclassica, the Australian International Concours d’Elegance & Classic Motor Show that will be held in October.

The six-day luxury tour for classic cars will run from 16 to 21 October 2010, ahead of the Motorclassica Concours and Motor Show at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne from 22 to 24 October. The Tour begins a nine-day celebration of classic motoring with both static and on-road displays of some of the world’s finest and rarest classic cars.

Up to 30 classic cars will head out along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, one of the world’s great driving roads, before heading inland through Western Districts wine country and the majestic Grampians, returning to Melbourne along central Victoria’s gold rush roads.

Tour participants will enjoy the five-star delights of Victoria’s wineries, restaurants and resorts, all the while taking in breathtaking scenery from behind the wheel of their classic cars…and even at one point from helicopters.

Inspired by similarly magnificent driving experiences on other continents, Tour Australis is supported by Tourism Victoria and will present a feast of motoring splendour rarely seen in Australia or anywhere in the world.

Participants will return to Melbourne on the day before the Australian International Concours d’Elegance and Classic Motor Show opens at the Royal Exhibition Building, along with a free “Picnic with the Classics” in nearby Argyle Square.

Before the public displays begin in the afternoon, all 100-plus concours participants will join in Tour Classica for an extended scenic cruise through Melbourne, proudly sponsored by the City of Melbourne to showcase the city’s many historic and modern highlights.
