The Fairfield County Concours d’Elegance 2011 returns to Westport, Connecticut for its eighth annual event on Sunday, September 18th. This year’s event will highlight vehicles powered by Chrysler Hemi engines and the 50th anniversary of the Jaguar E-Type.
Chrysler FirePower will star in a special exhibit of American and European vehicles equipped with Chrysler Hemi engines. Chrysler debuted the Hemi FirePower V8 in 1951, capturing the attention of street drivers and track and drag racing professionals and enthusiasts alike. Central to the Fairfield County Concours 2011 display will be a 1956 Chrysler 300B equipped with two four-barrel carburetors and a “bat-wing” air cleaner alongside a rare 1957 Facel Vega FV2B Cabriolet that, though designed and built in France, is equipped with the same 354 inch, 340-horsepower Chrysler FirePower as the 300B. Two of the only 25 Cunningham C-3 Coupes, built by Westport, Connecticut’s Briggs Cunningham, will also be on view, as well as a 1952 Kurtis Kraft 500A racecar.
Another featured class will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Jaguar E-Type. Organizers are searching from within the contiguous United States for two privately owned E-Types: the car with the lowest chassis serial number and the car that is the longest privately held single-owner E-Type. Owners are asked to submit information, stories and photographs (exterior ¾ front and side views, one each) of their E-Types: www.fairfieldcountyconcours.com/enter.html.
The Fairfield County Concours d’Elegance 2011 will display more than 175 automobiles and motorcycles at the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport, Connecticut. Other special exhibits and featured classes are Formula 1 race cars, Isotta Fraschini masterpieces, Classic Car Club of America Grand Classic 100 Point Winners, Historic BMW motorcycles, Porsche, Woodies, Barn Finds and Preservation Vehicles.
The event weekend also presents Car and Motorcycle Club Day, Art + Automobilia exhibitors, the Nutmeg Tour for Autism and Toast the Tour Reception, CCCA Grand Classic preview, in addition to playing host to Bonhams’ Exceptional Collectors’ Motorcars and Automobilia Auction.
