Legends of Motorsports Now Powered by Historic Motor Sports Association Partnership Expands Premium Historic Racing Platform Across North America
Legends of Motorsports (LOM), a Bobby Rahal Signature Event, and the Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA) announced today that they will be combining their efforts to create Legends of Motorsports powered by HMSA. The newly created partnership will expand the platform of historic racing through the LOM premium experience and be guided by the sanctioning strength of HMSA to provide the finest historic racing events across North America.
“The mission of LOM is to host premium historic racing events at legendary North American facilities and to position these events consistently with the lifestyle and expectations of our participants,” said Bobby Rahal, co-founder of LOM. “Our partnership with HMSA allows us the opportunity to continue to position LOM events at the top of the historic racing platform, apart and above any competition.”
The partnership of LOM and HMSA will provide the more than 700 participants who are currently members and participants in the combined series an even greater platform to experience premium historic racing events at the most legendary circuits in North America. LOM powered by HMSA events will now be strategically held throughout North America and provide participants a consistent experience from registration through on-track activity that was previously unavailable to entrants when competing across multiple historic racing platforms.
Cris Vandagriff, President of HMSA, expanded on the future of the new organization. “This is an exciting partnership between LOM and HMSA. Our purpose is to encourage the restoration, preservation and use of historic sports and racing cars. By adding LOM at the premium end of our events we are fulfilling our mission and expect to take historic racing to a higher level.”
Vandagriff will oversee the combined operation which will consist of the current HMSA events and LOM events. In addition to the previously scheduled races, the Coronado Speed Festival, set for September 23-25 in southern California will become an LOM event, joining the upcoming LOM scheduled event at Sebring International Raceway (December 3-5).

About Historic Motor Sports Association
Restoration, Preservation & Use
The Historic Motor Sports Association is one of the most respected historic racing organizations in the United States, producing world class spectator events across the country. HMSA members own, restore, preserve and race the most historic and valuable sports and racing cars in the world.
HMSA events feature historic production cars built through 1966 and purpose built Formula, Sports Racing and IMSA cars built through 1984.
HMSA was created in 1977 to serve as the sanctioning body for premiere historic racing events such as the world famous Monterey Historic Automobile Races and remains the only organization to mandate the cars race as they were and not what they could have been (historically correct within the time period the car originally raced).
