Worldwide Auctioneers held its Houston Classic Auction 2012 on Saturday, May 5th at the La Torretta Lake Resort in Montgomery, Texas, resulting in more than $7 million in sales and an 85% sell-through rate.
The 11th annual Houston Classic Auction saw nearly 120 motor cars cross the auction block, in addition to a selection of memorabilia from the Paul J. Meyer Estate Collection. The Full Classics were top sellers at the 2012 Houston Classic Auction, with high sale going to a 1932 Duesenberg Model J LWB Speedster that sold for $297,000. An ACD Category 1 certified 1937 Cord 812 “Sportsman” Convertible Coupe brought $242,000 and a 1931 Cord L29 Cabriolet and 1979 Duesenberg II Boattail Speedster each sold for $220,000, the latter setting a new record.
Other notable sales included the Bloomington Gold-certified 1953 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster, which found a new home for $209,000, a 1958 AC Ace Bristol Roadster that brought $181,500 and a special order 1968 Porsche 911S that sold for $118,250. The auction also featured a selection of 1936 Fords from the Paul J. Meyer Estate Collection, which along with memorabilia from the same collection realized a total of over $800,000 donated by the family to the Paul and Jane Meyer Family Foundation which supports more than 30 charities across the world.
