The Cavallino Classic 2014 was held January 22-26 at the Breakers Resort Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. Celebrating its 23rd anniversary, this five-day gathering for Ferrari owners and enthusiasts saw participants and their 400 exotic and classic cars attending from the United States and Europe.
The first event of the gathering was the Cavallino Classic Competition, a two-day track meet at Palm Beach International Raceway. A select field of competition Ferraris, Maseratis, Alfa Romeos and Bugattis tackled the 11-turn, 2.043 mile race track, including a pair of Ferrari 250 Testa Rossas (0748TR and 0756TR); a pair of Ferrari 250 GTOs (3705GT and 4757GT); Ferrari 375 MM; Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France; Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta; Ferrari 275 Competizione; Ferrari 512 M; Maserati 250F; Alfa Romeo P3; Alfa Romeo 8C Monza and Bugatti Type 37A; among others.
Yet, as always, the high point of the Cavallino Classic is the Concorso d’Eleganza on the front lawn of the Breakers Resort Hotel, on Saturday, January 25, 2014. A field of 150 Ferrari automobiles were judged for originality and elegance, vying for Class Awards and the important Major Cups, along with the Cavallino Cup for Best in Show. This year’s event featured the 50th anniversary of the 275 model, with nearly two dozen examples displayed including the class-winning Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione of Preston Henn.
The Best of Show Competition Ferrari award at the 2014 Cavallino Classic was presented to the 1948 Ferrari 166 Spider Corsa, while the Best of Show Gran Turismo Ferrari award was given to the Ferrari 400 Superamerica of Jack Thomas.
The finale for the 2014 Cavallino Classic is ‘Classic Sports Sunday’ at Mar-a-Lago, the Marjorie Merriweather Post mansion in Palm Beach. This year’s Classic Sports Sunday featured Bentley, as a field of 120 automobiles were displayed on the grounds, including American, Italian, French, British and German classics. Best of Show was awarded to the Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster.

Once again beautiful photos – your photographer is a true artist !!
Brilliant, just brilliant, thank you…
Great work Michael. Not a bad assignment when you consider what is happening up North.
Best of show competition did not go to the 250LM, but instead to the 166 Spyder Corsa restored by Paul Russell & Company
Of course you’re right. We’ve updated the story. Thanks.
Magnifient Images Michael…
Michael DiPleco is a phenomenal photographer. I would love to see what you could have captured with Ralph Lauren’s collection I saw a couple of years ago at the Louvre. The cars were amazing, but I didn’t buy the book because the photographer hadn’t captured them the way you have captured these.
Thanks to you…Michael…I understand why my Grandmother always wanted a Red Ferrari!
Beautiful pictures that let you feel like you can reach out and touch the cars.
And The Breakers as a venue had to be just about perfect.
Great Event as always
