The Spa Six Hours 2014 was held September 19-21 at the 4.352-mile Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. This year’s historic races featured Under Two-Litre Touring Cars (U2TC), a series for pre-1966 Touring Cars with engines less than two-litres in displacement.
A field primarily consisting of Alfa Romeo GTA, Ford Lotus Cortina and Mini Cooper S models celebrated the bygone era of the European Touring Car Championship. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA of Alexander Furiani and Max Werner took home the U2TC top prize at the Spa Six Hours 2014, followed on the podium by the Ford Lotus Cortinas of Richard Dutton-Neil Brown and Grant Tromans-Richard Meaden, respectively.
In addition to his “Racing in the Rain” and Woodcote / Stirling Moss Trophy galleries, photographer Jurrie Vanhalle also documented the Under Two-Litre Touring Cars race with the following 119 images. We split up Jurrie’s photos into two galleries. The first gallery starting below features our favorite images, all displayed in the full-width view of Sports Car Digest, while the second gallery and race results can be found on the last page of the article and gives a comprehensive view of all the photographs. Love that photo series of the #33 Alfa passing the Lotus Cortinas in the Esses – Great capture!!
What happy photographs these are… a true rendition of the joy of a sunny day of vintage motorsport !!
we expected no less from the Sprint GTA, and now for the wine
love that the overall winner was a great looking Guilia step nose sprint identical except for 2 tone to the one I purchased from Mark Domby through your cars for sale ad a few months ago. I had to order custom paint to touch up a small area on the door and the guy who painted it an detailed the car called it ” The Little Red Tomato” So that is its name now
