The Donington Historic Festival has announced a number of changes for its next event following the latest redevelopment at the historic UK circuit. Following feedback from spectators and competitors, the festival will now run from Friday April 28 to Sunday April 30. This means qualifying rounds will take place on the Friday, with racing set for Saturday and Sunday.
The new format will allow the 2017 festival to be even bigger and better than before. The theme of this seventh Donington Historic Festival will be “get involved,” with the organizers investing in a diverse range of entertainment, both on and off the track, in which families and fans can become involved.
Richard Grafton, commercial director of Historic Promotions — organizers of the festival — commented: “There is nothing like getting close to the action and experiencing historic racing cars in all their glory. Donington is a great venue for allowing visitors to become part of the story and, now that the site has even more space available, we have an exciting opportunity to expand what we can offer.
“This year, we wanted to create an immersive experience,” he continued, “so we’ve secured more content in which people can participate. It is an event that gives visitors close access to exhilarating entertainment, so we want people to leave Donington Historic Festival with a sense of delight and amazement at what they have experienced.”
