The Quail Porsche Racecar Classic has been scheduled for Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley, California, as an exclusive event to benefit the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation and the University of California at San Francisco’s Thoracic Oncology Program. The invitation-only event, in collaboration with Porsche, is being billed as a once-in-a-lifetime global gathering of vintage Porsche racecars, featuring those built and raced between 1950 and 1965. On display will be a number of historically significant automobiles, both purpose-built racecars and modified production vehicles, as well as a collection of Porsche-powered specials and special-bodied cars.
The treats available on the day are not only of the automotive variety, as guests will be able to feast on local gourmet specialties while sipping wines from 30 leading wineries. All ticketholders will also receive a special commemorative gift. Tickets for the affair are $400 per person, although $350 of the cost is tax deductible because the net proceeds from the event will go directly toward lung cancer research.
