The fourth annual Arizona Concours d’Elegance, held last Sunday on the grounds of the Arizona Biltmore, crowned the 1936 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic owned by Peter and Merle Mullin and Rob and Melani Walton as its Best of Show winner. The magnificent hand-built car is notable for its prominent front fenders and a narrow aluminum body uniquely joined by rivets running along flanges atop its fenders and down its spine,
The 90 cars arrayed on the show field for the concours were divided into 17 classes, with those judged best in each class then re-judged to determine Best of Show. The Atlantic won the special class for Cars of Ettore and Jean Bugatti, while the three other finalists for the event’s highest accolade were: a 1937 Lagonda LG45 Rapide sport tourer, owned by the Stephens family of San Francisco; a 1955 Ferrari 250 Europa coupe with coachwork by Vignale owned by Kevin Cogan of Louisville, Kentucky; and a 1933 Marmon V16 convertible coupe, owned by Aaron and Valerie Weiss of San Marino, California.
The full list of winning cars follows. The date for next year’s fifth annual Arizona Concours d’Elegance has been announced as January 14, 2018.
