The second annual Legends of Riverside racing reunion and film festival has named Carroll Shelby as its special guest of honor for the March 26–28, 2010, event at the Riverside International Raceway Museum. Although he earned his spurs as a champion driver, Shelby is best known for his creation of the Cobra sports car, and both he and the car enjoyed great success at Riverside.
“Obviously we’re very pleased that Mr. Shelby is going to join us for this year’s event,” said Doug Magnon, who, with his father Ray, founded the museum dedicated to the fabled facility. “His name is synonymous with the great racing that went on at Riverside. We’re all very much looking forward to this special night spending time with this true motor sports icon.”
In addition to Shelby, a star-studded roster of veteran racers will once again be on hand as invited guests, and more previously unseen racing films will be screened. Last year’s inaugural event sold out quickly and generated enthusiastic reviews, and a limited number of three-day tickets is now available to the general public.
