Having graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2003, the first classic car Ms Felstead ever painted was at the Monaco Grande Prix Historique in 2008. The enjoymment she derives from drawing people working in different environments has since led her to paint mechanics working on cars at a variety of racetracks including Nürburgring, Dijon, Spa, Monza, Donington, Silverstone, and Paul Ricard.
She finds Goodwood’s Festival of Speed particularly attractive since there is always so much going on, from the cars in action on the hill to the frenetic preparations for the runs to the more relaxed atmosphere of spectators sitting on the Cartier lawn. She was drawn to Claude Nahum’s gold GT40 by its eye-catching colors and its classically beautiful shape, then gave it her own interpretation.
