The famous 1936 Lagonda LG45R Rapide Sports Racing Two-Seater, or “EPE 97” as it’s popularly known, set a new world record at Bonhams’ Goodwood Revival sale, when it hammered for £1,569,500. Elsewhere in the sale, another world record was broken with the historically significant 1930 OM 665 SS MM Superba [featured in Vintage Racecar Oct 2013], when it sold far above estimate at £1,255,900, to a bidder in the room.
