The Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia has been holding a series of “Demonstration Days,” at noon on the fourth Saturday of each month, with the program running through October. Each individual event features two or more racing sports cars from the Museum’s collection, making it one of the few museums in the world where visitors can actually see and hear famous racecars of the past being driven. Admission to these special events is included in the museum’s regular daily ticket price
Prior demonstrations have featured Ford’s glory days at Le Mans and a Mercer vs Stutz comparo, while the July 25 outing showcases supercharged cars from Bentley, Squire, and MG. August 22 will celebrate the Days of Thunder for American iron in international racing with the Cunningham C4, and Ford’s MkII and MkIV, while September 26 brings an England vs Italy showdown between an Aston Martin DBR1 and a Ferrari 250TR, and October closes out the promotion with Mille Miglia Day where center stage will be taken by a pair of Alfa Romeos, a Monza and an 8C 2900A. The museum is located at 6825 Norwitch Drive, Philadelphia, Pa., just off Interstate 95, and for complete information please visit www.simeonemuseum.org
