The Bentley Drivers Club will celebrate six decades of racing at Silverstone with an unprecedented two-day meeting on August 8-9. A broad collection of Bentleys of all vintages will take to the track to honor the continuous run of annual BDC events held at the Northamptonshire circuit since 1949.
Anchoring the 60th anniversary weekend will be the traditional Bentley Handicap Race that allows Bentleys from every era to enjoy a chance for victory, since all cars start from the pit lane at calculated intervals based on their relative performance capabilities. Equally popular is the All-Comers Race featuring a variety of marques in addition to Bentley. Also on the docket are the Bentley Parade, where any club member who turns up will be allowed to drive three laps of the circuit, and a demonstration run by the fastest Bentley of all, the Speed 8 that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003.
Beyond the Bentleys, a number of other events will take place on the weekend, featuring the Aston Martin Owners Club as well as rounds of the Morgan Championship, the Masters Top Hat historic saloons, the Cloth Cap pre-’66 sports GTs, and the Equipe GTS for sports and GT cars.
