Northern California’s Classic and Sports Racing Group’s 14th annual Charity Challenge, scheduled for the weekend of September 29 through October 1 at Sonoma Raceway, will have a slightly different look this year as the organization is planning a “new & improved” version with several exciting additions:
For starters, in addition to the usual CSRG class races, there’s the featured marque Can-Am Mini Challenge, which we detailed in this space last month. Then there’s the track-sponsored Saturday night dinner for participants, and a vintage aircraft flyover from a vintage plane gathering at Schelville Airport, as well as a display of vintage cars and bikes from local motorcycle and car clubs at the track.
The weekend will also host the final round of the inaugural season of the Crossflow Cup for Vintage and Club Formula Fords (above, photo courtesy of CSRG). Participants will be eligible for prizes, a yearbook and trophies for well-turned-out cars. For details, please contact Andrew Wait via andrew.wait@gmail.com
CSRG’s 2017 season will then come to a close on the three-mile East Course at Thunderhill Park near Willows, California, on the weekend of November 3-5, which promises to be one of the best of the year. The usual Run Groups will take part, and Larry Oka will be bringing his Spec Miata Run Group to stage a one-hour, two-driver Enduro that is open to both Spec Miata and Vintage Car entrants.
