On October 19, China held its second concours event, when the 2014 Bund Classic Concours d’Elegance was held at Shanghai’s iconic villa of No.1 Waitanyuan.
With more than 50 entries from China and across the world, the field included a 1935 Hudson Terraplane, a 1935 Rolls-Royce Phantom II, a 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III, a 1940 Mercedes-Benz 320 Model A Cabriolet, a 1942 Packard Clipper, a 1948 Chrysler Town & Country USA, a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster, a 1963 Jaguar E-Type Roadster, a 1965 Ford Shelby Cobra and a 1966 Ferrari 330 GT. Sandra Button, Chairman of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, returned as the chief judge, heading up a panel that consisted of judges from 13 countries, including China, the U.S., the UK, Italy, Belgium, Singapore, Hong Kong and Burma. After all the judging was complete, the 1928 Packard Model 443 of Gao Lu received the coveted “Best of Show” award. Other category winners included: Jason Huang’s 1958 Audi 1000SP (Chairman’s Award); Gao Lu’s 1937 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost (Elegance Award Pre-1950); Arthur Bechtel’s Mercedes-Benz 320 Model A (People’s Choice).
