The Jaguar XJR-11 was designed by Briton Tony Southgate and was introduced for the 1989/’90 FIA Group C Sports Prototypes European Championship. It also ran, with some aerodynamic modifications, in the IMSA GTP Championship.
The car was run by Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) and was driven by Andy Wallace (GB) and Jan Lammers (NL). The chassis was a full-width carbon fiber/Kevlar composite monocoque with a tubular steel roll cage, with Dunlop tires in ’89 and Goodyear in ’90. Power was supplied by Jaguar’s own 3,500-cc, 90-degree, V-6 twin turbo feeding through a TWR transmission. However, brakes were humble 13” iron discs, which had to slow the car down from speeds in excess of 200 mph at Le Mans.
This particular example is now part of the very active Group C/GTP Racing series and is driven by enthusiast Gary Pearson. Giclee print on A1 paper.
