On Sept 22–23, the countryside outside of Reims, France, will once again reverberate to the howls of a Mercedes W196, as the ex-Fangio “Streamliner” takes part in a two-day festival celebrating the history of this famous French circuit.
Dubbed the “1st Week-End of L’Excellence Automobile” by organizer Franz Hummel, this two-day meeting will feature a broad program of events including a concours, classic car auction, historical displays, vendor village, air show, fireworks and demonstration runs from a wide variety of vehicles that raced at Reims during its 50-plus-year history. One of the many highlights of the weekend will be former Formula One star Jean Alesi, making demonstration runs in the Mercedes W196 “Streamliner” that Juan Manuel Fangio drove to victory at Reims in 1954.
