Australia’s home of motor sport, Mount Panorama (Bathurst), will once again come alive with the roar of engines at Easter—this time for a new event—with confirmation that the Festival of Sporting Cars (FoSC) will be held at the Mount over the 2008 Easter long weekend.
The organizers of the highly successful Shannon’s Festival of Sporting Cars series have announced that with support from Mercedes Benz, they will hold the first in a series of annual multi-club meetings at Mount Panorama, a circuit known as the Mecca of Australian motor racing.
FoSC President Geoff Pike said in securing the world famous venue, festival organizers had achieved a tremendous breakthrough for grass roots motorsport. “This is a landmark for club level motor sport in NSW and will help Bathurst Regional Council reaffirm its stated aim to confirm Bathurst as the home and center of motorsport,” Mr Pike said.
The three-day event would see a variety of action both on and off track. The Friday will be dedicated to private practice and driver training, with racing on Saturday and Sunday.
In addition to the on-track program, FoSC’s plans include a broad range of attractions and activities covering all forms of two and four-wheeled transport. “Given the time of year, and the size of the venue, we will be making this a family friendly event,” Mr Pike said.
