An exquisite 1930 Stutz Lancefield Supercharged Coupe won the Best of Show Award at the 10th annual Keeneland Concours d’Elegance that featured a Winner’s Circle Reunion rather than a featured marque. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Keeneland Concours, winners and runners-up from previous years were invited to show their cars once again.
“We’re delighted that so many owners returned to share their cars with us, it’s a real treat for everyone in Lexington to see these automotive masterpieces,” said Tom Jones, co-chair of the Concours.
The 1930 Stutz Lancefield Supercharged Coupe, owned by the Mitchell Collection of Texas, also won Best of Show in the 2012 Keeneland Concours d’Elegance. The Stutz was purchased new by the Woolworth Brothers in 1929 and bodied by Lancefield Coachworks of London, England. It is the only Lancefield coupe to be supercharged, and the only one surviving out of five built. It was restored by Old Iron Works of Montgomery, Texas.
More than 130 collector cars and motorcycles took the show field again on the grounds of the historic Keeneland Race Course. Visitors were treated to a sweeping automotive display, which ranged from a 1906 Auto Car Type 10 to a 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider. Other winning cars included the 1947 Talbot Lago T-26 Cabriolet, the 1934 Duesenberg SJ Speedster “Mormon Meteor,” a 1931 Ford Model A Deluxe Phaeton and a 1964 Lincoln Continental. Additionally, Jim Cox, of the Branson Collector Car Auction, was presented the Lee Iacocca Award in recognition of his lifetime of supporting the collector car hobby and his philanthropic endeavors.
