Historic Grand Prix (HGP) have announced that they have been chosen to stage a historic Formula One race as part of the new Las Vegas CHAMP car street race to be held April 6–8, 2007. Not only will HGP hold a full race that weekend, but the race will also include a number of racing legends including Emerson Fittipaldi, Arie Luyendyk, Bobby Rahal, Danny Sullivan and Al Unser, Jr.
The event will be held on a temporary street circuit utilizing part of the old Las Vegas strip and downtown area. This will be the first time that Formula One cars have raced in Las Vegas since the early ’80s, when two rounds of the Formula One World Championship were held in the parking lot of Caesar’s Palace from 1981–1982.
