The name John Horsman may not be a household name in motorsport, but with a CV like his, it should be. Horsman was first hired, as a young engineer, by racing impresario John Wyer. Horsman began his career sorting out gearbox problems on the Aston Martin DB4, but soon found himself working on the famed Aston Martin “Project 215” cars. From that point on, Horsman’s career went from strength to strength, including work on the GT40, the GT40-based Mirage, the Porsche 917 and later the American-based Mirage team. In a racing career that spanned more than 20 years, Horsman worked with all the greats including Wyer, Bell, Hailwood, Schuppan, Hobbs, Ickx, Redman, Rodriguez, Siffert and the Andrettis (Mario and Michael).
