Adidas have done a successful job of penetrating the motor racing market with their stylish and well-designed boots. We recently had a chance to give them a serious tryout at the Tasman Revival races in Australia. The lightweight Feroza Elite, manufactured in split-suede and full-grain cowhide with full flame-retardant Armortex lining was both comfortable in very hot conditions, and slim enough to be manageable in 40-year-old single-seaters. The combination of low-profile sole and the use of a harder compound rubber, from the mid to front of the boot, provides lots of structural support and an exceptional degree of comfort. While having significant flame-retardant qualities, these new boots were tested in Australia to help develop a heat-dissipating membrane. Our own experience of 40-degree-centigrade temperatures at Eastern Creek bore testimony to the success of the design.
The Feroza Elite incorporates a foot-protecting fireproof membrane, with the sole manufactured in oil resistant and fire retardant rubber. The Adidas instep technology provides pedal grip and far more comfort than many flat-sole boots. Even after two full days in and out of cars in blazing heat, we never noticed that we had these boots on, and that is something new for us.
